Each year we take a night to honor the seniors. We gathered some pictures from parents of each senior and AJ Heil put together a slide show. We also interviewed each senior and asked them for their fall plans, what words of wisdom would they pass on and for prayer request.
I gave a short devotion from John 16:33, "I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. in this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." I love the contrast between peace and trouble. The big picture is that we can have peace in our heart knowing that God is in control of all things and yet we will experience trouble because of the world we live in.
At the end of the night we allowed others to share their memories of the seniors. It was a touching tribute to hear the many comments.
The seniors inlcuded:
Nicholas Campbell, Kaitlynn Heil, Kyia Hernandez, Billie Jones, Annette Knoff
Reva Luther, Andrew Meshnick, Tia Painter, Joe Ratsch, Ryan Tews & Nathan Wentz
Thank you Seniors!

5.14.08 Plumbline
The theme of the night was on 'abilities'. The students were asked to get into teams and then each team had to pick an 'athlete' for each of the different competitions. The activities included video games, basketball, bean bag toss, Uno and carpet ball. We did this as an example of how each of us are created with different abilities. Each champion earned a free CD and the respect of the world.
During our less on time we covered 4 main points.
1. Develop your abilities - God has given everyone abilities, we learn what they are by doing.
2. Feed a willing attitude - willing and able, God enables
3. Starve the flesh - be careful of your motivation
4. Exploit the opportunities - take advantage of the different experiences you have to help determine what your abilities are.

5.12.08 CHAOS
We enjoyed the nice weather on Monday night as we played touch football and hustle ball before we went inside. Hustle ball is a version of baseball where you only get one pitch to put the ball in play and after the three outs you don't have to wait for the defense to get set up. As soon as you can, you pitch to your own team and hope to catch the opposition sleeping.
After the games we went inside for some time of prayer and Bible discussion. We watched a short movie clip where the movie character was struggling to share his faith with someone who 'only believed in science'. We talked about different ways that we can share our faith and even some ways that we make it more difficult to be a good witness. The key verse of the night was Matthew 5:16, " In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
We only have two more CHAOS meetings before school ends. We hope to see you soon.

Communication Station
I wanted to start something in order to better communicate with the church, parents and students what is going on with our student ministry at the Grotto.
